Record Fish updated July 13, 2010 Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is the world's richest billfish tournament with the most million dollar winners—seven since 2003. An expected 200 teams will compete for over $4 million in cash awards. The event is covered extensively in both print and television with media crews coming from as far away as Japan and Russia. Weigh-ins are open to the public. 2010 Schedule of Events TUESDAY OCTOBER 19 REGISTRATION 12-6:00pm Registration Check-In and distribution of Team Bags in front of the Puerto Paraiso Mall. 6-7:00pm Angler, Captain and Deckhand Meeting on the upper deck of the Puerto Paraiso Mall. Attendance by at least one Team member is mandatory. 7-9:00pm Registration continues and the Kick-Off Cocktail Party begins in front of the Puerto Paraiso Mall! WED/THU/FRI OCTOBER 20-22 FISHING DAYS 8:00am Shotgun Start. Watch offshore fishing’s most spectacular “Shotgun Start” from one of the best locations in Cabo—the Baja Cantina Beach Club on Medano Beach. 8:00am-5:00pm Tournament Fishing; lines must be out of the water by 5:00pm. Special events and prizes are announced over the radio. 8:00am-9:00pm Weigh Station is open in front of the Puerto Paraiso Mall. The weigh-in is broadcast LIVE over the internet at www.bisbees.com and www.sportfishermen.com. SATURDAY OCTOBER 23 AWARDS CELEBRATION 7:00-9:30pm Awards Celebration starts off in front of the Puerto Paraiso Mall with cocktails followed by dinner and a big screen presentation of the tournament video (available for sale after the tournament on Bisbee’s Online Store at www.bisbees.com/store/). The awards presentation starts after viewing the tournament video. 11:00-??? UjENA and Maxim en Espanol magazine are hosting an "After-Party" at Club Mandala in downtown Cabo after the Awards Celebration. Get details at the UjENA booth. Entry Levels & Fees ![]() TOURNAMENT ENTRY The Tournament Entry Fee is $5,000 per team which includes a $2,000 Team entry (goes to Overall Tournament Team Award) and a $3,000 Tournament Jackpot entry (not optional, goes to Overall Tournament Jackpot Winners and Top Captains). On the day of Registration the Entry Fee is $5,500. Teams receive merchandise and wristbands for entry to the Awards Celebration for four team members. Additional merchandise and wristbands may be purchased at the event. RELEASE DIVISION (optional) The Release Division is $2,000 per team for teams entered in the Black & Blue with an 85% return. You may enter the Release Division only for $2,500. If entered in the Release Division only you may not enter any of the Daily Jackpots. DAILY JACKPOTS (optional) There are six optional, 85% return, Daily Jackpots. Fees are per boat, per day, and you must enter all three days: $200 Daily Jackpot, $500 Daily Jackpot, $1,000 Daily Jackpot, $2,000 Daily Jackpot, $5,000 Daily Jackpot and $10,000 Daily Jackpot. INTERNATIONAL ANGLING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (IACC) International Teams (must represent an Angling/Fishing Club and the majority of your team members must be from a country outside of the United States, Canada and Mexico) may enter the IACC. There is no entry fee. Awards Tournament awards are based on the Entry Fees. Of the amount allocated to awards, forty percent (40%) goes to the Overall Tournament Team Awards and sixty percent (60%) goes to the Overall Tournament Jackpot Winners and Top Captains.OVERALL TOURNAMENT TEAM AWARDS Prizes are awarded to the top five teams that accumulate the most billfish weight points. The team also receives four trophies and a presentation check. OVERALL TOURNAMENT JACKPOTS & TOP CAPTAINS Of the Tournament Jackpot portion of the entry fee, sixty percent (60%) goes to the Tournament Jackpot and ten percent (10%) goes to Top Captains. In both categories, prizes are awarded to the top three teams based on the single heaviest qualifying black or blue marlin weighed. RELEASE DIVISION Prizes are awarded to the top three teams that accumulate the most billfish release points. Teams also receive four trophies and a presentation check. DAILY JACKPOTS The amount allocated to each Daily Jackpot is first split evenly between the three days of competition, and then each day one hundred percent is awarded to the team that catches the heaviest qualifying black or blue marlin of the day that is also entered in the Daily Jackpot. If there is no winner on a particular day, the prize money for that day rolls to the following day, unless it is the last day of the tournament in which case it rolls backwards to the largest fish caught in the category. EXAMPLE: Team A is entered in the $500 Daily Jackpot only. Team B is entered in the Daily Jackpots across the board. Team A catches the heaviest fish of the day; Team B catches the second heaviest fish of the day. Team A would win all of the cash for that day in the $500 Daily Jackpot only. Team B would win all of the cash for that day in the $200, $1,000, $2,000, $5,000 and $10,000 Daily Jackpots. OTHER TOURNAMENT AWARDS Special non-cash prizes may be awarded to the winner of the International Angling Club Championship, and to teams who entered before the Early Bird deadline.
