East Cape Offshore Kick-Off of Bisbee2025 Season

BISBEE'S EAST CAPE OFFSHORE began with Registration around the poolside at Hotel Buenavista Beach Resort. The Buenavista swimming pool is one of the most popular in the area, with locals and visitors alike gathering around the well-maintained, lush garden area, which is one of the largest and most beautiful in the East Cape region. As teams waited to sign up, they exchanged views on the latest Bisbee Tournament, which will be held in Costa Rica in April 2026. According to David Garcia of CatchStat, over 40 teams have already signed up.

Throughout the afternoon, the teams swapped stories while carefully guarding their recent pre-fishing results. One of the exciting items was the number of mostly smaller Blue Marlin and the few larger Blacks that had been released pre-tournament in the Cabo area.

Both Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado had been in many of the recent catch lists, which included some qualifiers (30-pounders for Dorado and 40-pounders for Yellowfin Tuna).

At 6 p.m., Wayne Bisbee, Tournament Director, called the Captains’ Meeting to order with Clicerio Mercado translating. After covering the Rules and other details regarding the event, they closed the meeting by wishing everyone GOOD LUCK!

The following morning, the start was delayed by 30 minutes because of a Tsunami Warning, which was cancelled by the Mexican Government.

Christian Agundez Gomez, Mayor of Los Cabos County and Lic. Martín Inzunza Tamayo, Director of FONMAR, participated in the flare gun start on Day One.

Throughout the afternoon, Axel Valdez and Jill Christiansen responded and recorded the incoming hook-ups and catches, including the ETAs of the teams weighing in their fish. And well after the weigh-in, the call-ins increased throughout the afternoon until the lines were out of the water at 4:30 p.m.

Several boats were still hooked up at the time and were allowed to continue fighting their fish.

Felipe Valdez Team: Zorah, Black Marlin –
