21st Annual Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament begins next week

We are happy to announce that following several months’ assistance and direction from various Mexico and Baja Federal, State, and Municipal Government agencies establishing necessary protocols for a safe event, the much anticipated “21st Annual Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament” will be held at the Buena Vista Oceanfront & Thermal Resort.

Adding to the excitement is the exceptional fishing the East Cape area is enjoying now. Like so much of Baja Sur, the excellent fishing is a result of the minimal fishing pressure since March.

The government, as well as the people of Baja, are excited to welcome our events and participants. This year’s tournaments will be a bit different from the norm, as they will come from a COVID-19 – “people gathering/social distancing” – perspective.

Fueling the anticipation this year are the seasoned veteran teams, joined by the eager newcomers who are more than ready to be part of the fun and are looking forward to the possibility of pocketing some of the growing jackpots.

The new health requirements dictate that we will not be hosting group functions of any kind during this event. However, all of our tournament information, photos, jackpot amounts, etc., will be available online at Bisbees.com and will also be available on the free CatchStat Mobile App.

The CatchStat Mobile App is available for both iPhone and Android users. This App allows you and your team to view everything about the tournament in real-time, so please download it right away to keep up on all tournament happenings in what has become a “pure fishing and big cash awards” type of event in real-time.

The week’s schedule is as follows:

The Buena Vista Oceanfront & Thermal Resort (Buena Vista Resort) is the headquarters for all the activities.

Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m. Registration … open outside of the hotel restaurant next to the pool deck.

Only one person per Team will be allowed to come to the registration table to register and pick up team bags.

We’re limited on the number of staff members who can register each Team, so we politely urge everyone to please pre-pay any of the optional entry categories before coming to registration.

To help you with your additional jackpot entry decisions, you can use CatchStat online or in the Mobile App for up to the minute status of each jackpot level, at any time.

The Captains’ and Anglers’ meeting (rules and FAQs)  will be available online beginning Monday, August 3, 2020, for you to view before the first day of fishing.

Unfortunately, there will not be a kick-off party following registration. Instead, Teams can plan their fishing strategies.

Fishing Hours – Wed., Thurs., and Fri.:  7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is half an hour later than past years to give you a little more time in the morning to get ready. You’ll need to be behind the start boat by 7:15 a.m. in front of the Buena Vista Resort.

The weigh station –  open from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

and given how great the fishing is right now we should see many of you there!

Because of COVID-19,  we are not allowed to have an awards’ banquet Saturday night; instead, we will present the big awards checks to the winners individually on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. We will live broadcast the check presentations online so everyone can see them.

We will continue to reach out to you in the days before the tournament.

As I said, this year’s East Cape Offshore Tournament is simply a “pure fishing and big cash awards” event, and both pure fishing catches and big cash amounts are growing by the hour which is killer!

Also, remember you can go online any time to see where the current prize money is for the optional Daily Jackpot Categories to help you with your additional entry decisions.

We will miss having group functions with you. They are always a lot of fun and our staff enjoys getting to meet and greet every one of you. But no one enjoys our group functions any more than Tricia and Wayne do, but as we all know this is an extraordinary, crazy year for the world.

We feel fortunate to have our tournament,   and we plan to enjoy every moment of it and we wish you the best of luck!

Both Tricia and Wayne will be in Cabo San Lucas this coming Saturday and Sunday. If any Teams would like to complete their registration before Tuesday afternoon that’s an option. Please call either Tricia at (714) 393-6107 or Wayne at (214) 557-8108 to set up a time to meet at Baja Cantina.

See you next week – Wayne, Tricia, and crew
